Teri has lost 161 pounds and is maintaining her goal weight!
Read what she has to say about her success...it will inspire you!
I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't conscious of being overweight. From being a chubby child to being a plus size adult, I was always aware of being the largest person in a room. Over the years I dieted some, never trying very hard or having much success. I was never unhappy with my life, so in my mind, my weight was not a big issue.
Then after my son was born and I turned the big 40, things started to change. I had high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, degenerative arthritis in my knees - all ailments associated with a lifetime of being obese and exasperated by age. My doctor continually advised me to lose weight and I would try halfheartedly, never really knowing what kind or how much food to eat to make it happen. My son was growing up and needed a Mom who could keep up with him - running, jumping, going on amusement park rides.......being alive! And at over 300 lbs.that definitely was NOT me.
That's when I joined weightwatchers. It was like for the first time in my life, someone was actually teaching me HOW to eat. There were no "diet" or forbidden foods. All the choices were mine. I was in control, satisfied and losing weight! Week after week I made healthy choices, along with snacks and treats so I wouldn't feel deprived. And week after week, I lost weight.
My original goal was to lose 20 lbs. in the 2 1/2 months I had before our Disney World vacation. To my utter amazement and delight, I was almost 40 lbs. lighter by the time we visited Mickey and friends. With that kind of weight loss to inspire me, I just kept going; setting mini goals along the way. The final goal in my mind was to wear a size 14, the size I wore in high school.
Well, here I am at goal weight wearing size 8's and 10's!! Who could have imagined?? I have surpassed every goal and dream I set for myself and I am thinner then I have ever been in my life. I am truly a changed person. I learned how to eat and make good food choices for life. I exercise mostly every day AND I enjoy it. Now my 7 year old son has trouble keeping up with me!
While I was never really unhappy before, now I am ecstatic every single day. I love the new me - inside and out. The feedback from my friends and family has been phenomenal. They tell everyone they know my story. I'm also now working for weightwatchers as a weigher and perfect strangers ask to see my "before" pictures and for the secret of my success. I tell them it's no secret. It's the dedication, commitment and knowledge that I got from Weightwatchers that got me here. And I plan to stay here forever.
